Shear Sensations continues to participate each year in the Lancaster Cares Cut-a-Thon. This annual event benefits The Gathering Place (www.tgpglobal.com), a Lancaster faith-based organization supporting aids patients and their families.
In April our team gathered for a Mexican fiesta in conjunction with the NCA Cares Dining for Change event which collectively raised over $75,000. NCA Cares, is a charity through the National Cosmetology Association that benefits The Salons Against Domestic Abuse/CUT IT OUT, Look Good…Feel Better and the NCA Disaster Relief Fund.
In May, we made hot sandwiches and baked goods which we sold during "Lovin' Lititz Every 2nd". Benefiting Share Our Strengths (www.strength.org), we were able to raise $250.00, which will feed three meals to 250 children. All money raised through this organization stays in the United States where they help keep children from going hungry.
Continuing our quest to stamp out hunger, during the month of June we collected items for the Lititz Warwick Community Chest. All food and personal care items donated to the Community Chest are given to families in the Lititz and Warwick Township areas.
November/December:
We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots organization (www.toysfortots.org).
The staff is also sponsoring a family in need again this Christmas through The Gathering Place. We raise funds through staff and client donations and then shop, wrap and deliver gifts to a family effected by HIV.
